Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because it covers different information than the general PlayStation 2 article. This article contains more detailed information than the general overview article; specific sales data by month and year is too detailed for an overview of the console. --CaseyPenk (talk) 17:46, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In a sentence: "This does not include split pages or any article that expands or reorganizes an existing one or that contains referenced, mergeable material." CaseyPenk (talk) 17:49, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because it is a split of an otherwise oversized article. The article it is split from has less detail than the current one and contains referenced, mergeable material. --155blue (talk) 17:53, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No valid sources to verify information

[edit]

The sales are NOT lining up with the 155 million units. Upon clicking on the sources, BOTH pre-date the 150 million mark Sony announced in 2012. The numbers either need to be changed to 150 million, or new sources used, as this is HORRIBLE using sources that do NOT actually post what is suppoused to be sourced! Sony themselves stopped divulging information about the PS2 after announcing 150 million, only approximations and estimates put it at 155. This wouldn't be a case, except Nintendo has announced the DS sales are 154.1 million, meaning there are higher confirmed sales of DS units than PS2 units. The line "best selling console" cannot be confirmed by any credible source, as all sources say "approximate" since Sony themselves are not releasing sales information.2602:304:CFD3:2EE0:E42C:7D5E:31CA:82A0 (talk) 05:53, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers are coming from VG Chartz

[edit]

Did anyone not notice that the numbers for the different region are exactly those listed by VG Chartz? Here's a link to VG Chartz's site which shows the numbers there matching the numbers listed here: http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:CFD3:2EE0:B97A:D3AF:FD78:F065 (talk) 07:51, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
